  • I beg to differ! I know many quality educators who cannot convince students and parents that education is important. I believe there is no single factor in a student's success rather it takes a careful balance of dedication from teacher, parents, and the student.

  • As a child and well into my teens, I was smacked to varying degrees based on behavior that warranted it and would use the same technique if I had children of my own. It is extremely effective when used correct and within reason.

  • Indeed, 100% dead on! Basics skills are a must but we have some many "who can not read, write, think, listen, spell...and have little or no incentive to become more educated." Calculators in math is a prime example of this.

  • Anything is worth a try to get students to actually write! The only obstacles I would have is the school rule against use of cell phones during the school day and computer access to social networking sites. Even the public access computers at the library limit access to Twitter, FaceBook, etc.

  • I have always believed there are easier ways to bring down an airliner which do not require the individual in question to actually be on the plane - brings me back to the psychology of terrorism.

  • I can follow the logic on this one but I just don't think it is the right thing to do. The drop isn't that much and the overall effect is very small. But...$62 is $62 and I have not gotten to the stage in life where I can ignore $62.
